Durante estos tres días entenderemos, apreciaremos y tomaremos conciencia del funcionamiento de nuestro cuerpo, cuando se le deja trabajar sin interferencia por nuestra parte. Profundizaremos nuestro sentido de dejar ir y permitir que suceda. Experimentaremos cómo nuestra conciencia y atención es la clave, y lo único necesario, para guiar al cuerpo a la acción adecuada y suficiente para la tarea.

 

Usaremos los aparatos para descubrir cómo enfocar nuestra atención para activar todas las funciones importantes de la fascia en acción. El lenguaje del movimiento fascial es diferente del movimiento que quizás se aprende en el gimnasio o en la escuela. Se trata de “estar” en el momento presente, prestando atención consciente a las necesidades del cuerpo, escuchándolo en lugar de “hablarle”. Se trata de secuenciación, paciencia, se trata de espacio: abrir el muelle para abrir el cuerpo (bio-tensegridad), ritmo óseo, rango verdadero, autorregulación, un movimiento conectivo de todo el cuerpo.

 

Este es solo un punto de partida de tu viaje en el Estudio de Pilates para redescubrir tu cuerpo fascial. Cambiar la forma en la que residimos cambiará tus pensamientos y tus creencias. ¡Estás invitado a vivir la experiencia!.

During these three days we will understand, appreciate and become aware of the workings of our body, when it is left to work without our interference.  We will deepen our sense of letting go and allowing to happen. We will experience how our awareness and attention is the key and the only thing needed, to guide the body into action appropriately and sufficient to the task.

We will use the apparatus, to find out how to focus our attention to trigger all the important functions of fascia into action.  The language of fascial movement is a different one from movement perhaps learnt in the gym or at school. It is about “being” in the present moment, mindfully paying attention to the needs of the body, listening to it rather than “talking” to it.  It is about sequencing, patience, it is about space – opening the spring to open the body (bio-tensegrity), bone rhythm, true range, auto-regulation, a whole-body connective movement. 

This is just a starting point of your journey in the Pilates Studio to rediscover your fascia body. Changing the shape we reside in will change your thoughts and your beliefs.  You are in for a ride.

SCOLIOSIS IN THE PILATES STUDIO

SATURDAY 26 AUGUST

TALLINN, ESTONIA

After a ski-ing accident in her 20s Fiona developed a postoral scoliosis.  She noticed changes in her breathing and generally felt uncomfortable and at times in pain.  With time and attention with her work in the Pilates Studio the scoliosis in her spine softened and she was no longer in discomfort.  This period in her life started her interest in discovering more about scoliosis.  How and why we develop curvatures in the spine.  Treatments available.  Maybe because of her interest Fiona started to see more clients in her studio who had scoliosis, sometimes from birth, sometimes from puberty and others as with Fiona following an accident or indeed in response to other diseases.  Reading, studying and observing Fiona saw exercises that helped, made slight variations to exercises to help with the lateral and spiral nature of scoliosis so her clients felt longer, more flexible and comfortable so that they could just feel more relaxed and generally happier.

This day is just a journey around the Studio, to discuss what is going on with the spine, how the breath is influenced by the spine and see how you can utilise the Pilates Studio apparatus to achieve physical and mental well-being in your client.

Scoliosis in the Pilates Studio (Faceboo

This day serves as a continuation of Transitional Studio Course I or a standalone working in the Pilates Studio with a fascial perspective.  Focusing on the more intermediate and advanced work on the apparatus;  the Reformer Wunda Chair and other pieces of equipment, Fiona will be leading you to re-consider the repertoire and how with a change of thought, imagination and desire, you can change the load distribution through the entire body and mind, thereby accessing the deep stabilising tissue and enabling flexibility, strength and purpose of mind, body and spirit.
